Contract Signing for Atlas Womens Centre



Today, the 15 of January 2018 saw the signing of the contract for the Atlas Womens Centre in Lisburn.

The money provided for the project was awarded by the Space & Place programme, a £15million Big Lottery funded capital grants programme which seeks to connect people and communities together by making use of underused or difficult space.

Representatives from Altas Womens Centre and Derryleckagh Contracts Ltd, the main contractor for the project were present at the signing with was witnessed by members of the design team comprising Tate Stevenson Architects Ltd and Dunlop Hawthorn Partnership.

Tate Stevenson Architects Ltd designed a new zinc clad extension to the upper floor of the current Lisburn premises which will provide teaching space, stores and a sensory rooftop garden. A lift will also be installed allowing greater access to the building for the local community. The existing crèche is being modified to include an outdoor play area.

Work is starting in earnest with a completion date in early July.
